CONFERENCES
Our conference week just flew! It was wonderful having the chance to talk with so many parents! If for some reason you were not able to attend your child's conference, please don't hesitate to call the teacher and reschedule. We certainly want to be able to share all the exciting things that are happening in our school.
Thanks to all who completed our Parent Survey. We received many great comments and the information will be used to "better" our conferences in the spring and help us in our school improvement efforts. If you still have a survey form at home, don't hesitate to send it with your child. They will receive a treat when it is turned in. If you lost yours, we can provide another, just send a note.
WEATHER CONCERNS
It's getting colder now and this is just a reminder to teach your child how to take care of hats, mittens, boots, scarves, and coats. We try to remind them to place loose items in a coat sleeve but we always end up with many, many lost. It also helps to write your child's name on these, even in their coats. Our Lost and Found is located in the All-Purpose room; feel free to stop in and check if you are missing clothing items, backpacks, lunch boxes, etc.
Another weather concern is that we have more traffic on Bennett and Roberts Streets as children stop walking home when it is so cold. Please remember that tickets can be issued if you park in the NO PARKING zone. No tickets are issued in the DROP-OFF/PICK-UP ZONE. I also encourage you to park on the side streets and ask your student to walk to the designated crosswalk where Safety Patrol students are stationed and then proceed to your vehicle. It does become a huge safety issue when adults park in the middle of the block, in the No Parking Zone, or double-park in the street and call to their students to cross the street. We need to work together in order to insure the safety of our children and build safe street sense. I thank you in advance for your cooperatiion.
DRESS CODE
It is important that our students follow our dress code - white, light blue, or dark blue shirts. This builds community in our building and needs to be followed unless you contact your child's teacher and make them aware of special circumstances. If you have any needs, we have some clothing available in a variety of sizes - just contact the office for assistance.
Box Tops for Education
Please help your child find these coupons on various products and simply glue or tape to the fun collection sheet we have sent home. If you don't have a fun collection sheet, you can still send the box tops to school in an envelope, baggie, or rubber band. Our library staff redeems these and our school gains many new products for our children to use. We have almost doubled the number of coupons we have received already this year by simply using these collection sheets - so thanks!
Our Wish to You
A Hundred Years From Now
...it will not matter what our bank accounts were, the sort of house we lived in, or the kind of car we drove....
but the world may be different because we were important in the life of a CHILD.
A wonderful holiday season of wishes to you on behalf of the Marquette Staff,
Mrs. Gay Monroe
