Classroom computers

As the student's confidence  increases, so does their learning !

We use old & new technology in our room to help us learn.    We offer our students a variety of

older,  hand-me-down computers to learn on.   We have 1 ancient PC,  My old PC and  3  I-Macs computers  for them to work on,  every day.   We have a variety of software programs

and games that teach them how to use the computer's mouse and the keyboard  first

As our student's skills and abilities increase, they can move

up to CD roms and more educational software that will teach them basic reading & math skills.

It is exciting to see the LIGHTS go on, in our students eyes, as they begin to  GET  it!

Leap Frogs have helped us!

V-Tech Educational Products are very similar to Leap Frog.

Check out V-Tech's Home Page

The bottom line is, there are many educational tools out there that can teach the skills we all

want our children to have.    They are not as expensive as you might think.   Check them out!

What a great gift to give your child, a video game that teaches them to read or do math.

What is the price to teach a child to read?

What is the cost, if we don't?

.

New Additions to our Room

.

We have added an Epson big screen projector, and an ELMO document camera to our room.

.

It has changed the way we are learning in Room 147.

.

We now can project anything from our Leap Frog / DVD / VCR / Samples of our Work,

to Images from my computer.  Power Point Hyper Links make it fast and easy to find

those items to show the class or to let them choose from a screen with HOT BUTTONS.

We have a wireless keyboard and mouse for them to use in front of  a 9 foot screen.  No more,

" I can't see it ," or having too many students huddled around a computer to see what you

want them to see.  We have started making PowerPoint slideshows, as a whole group lesson.

They get to choose what they want to work on, when it is their  turn.  I keep track of what they have worked on and urge them to try "something new," with their next turn.

We have over 50 slideshows,  maybe more,  displayed as buttons for them to choose.

Some can't read yet, but they remember which buttons they like and which they don't.

So no matter what they pick we are still working on what we need to work on every day in

Room 147.   We practice our LETTERS, NUMBERS, COLORS and the CALENDAR.

We watch and  practice a letter a day after our video tutor teaching us how!

The Computer just makes it more fun to do those activities!

Can't we have FUN and Learn too?

.

You want your students or children to learn something?

Just let them help you make it on the computer.  Let them pick the images and the sound effects.

You may get tired of them, but they don't.  They will take ownership in the work they help make.

They learn it faster than with paper and pencil and it's alot more fun, for everyone!

Look for future video clips here to show you what we have made together and how we do it.
