 Elementary  MEAP  Information   

 

MICHIGAN EDUCATION ASSESSMENT PROGRAM (MEAP) 

 

WHAT IS MEAP?

  • Used as Michigan’s Department of Education Accountability System
  • Measures what Michigan students should know at their grade level
  • Has set percentages that students in Michigan Public Schools must meet
  • Given to 3rd 4th and 5th grade at elementary level

 

WHAT ARE STUDENTS TESTED ON?

  • Grades 3 and 4 take the Language Arts and Math MEAP test
  • Grade 5 takes the Language Arts, Math and Science MEAP Test

 

INDIVIDUAL MEAP SCORES

  • A score of 1 or 2 is proficient
  • A score of 3 or 4 is non-proficient
  • Parents will receive copies of their child’s individual scores upon return of MEAP results

 

WHEN ARE STUDENTS TESTED?

  • MEAP window opens the second week in October  (week of October 8th and October 15th)
  • Specific testing times varies depending on school’s set schedule times

 

HOW CAN PARENTS HELP STUDENTS  PRIOR TO TESTING?

  • Remind your child of the importance of doing their personal best in school
  • Assist your child with completion of homework
  • Communicate with your child’s teacher concerning his/her education
  • Ensure that your child eats properly and receives plenty of rest
