MRS. CROUCH
Hello, my name is Mrs. Crouch. I love teaching, in fact this is my 31st year teaching for Muskegon Public schools. I have been married for 33 years and have three beautiful daughters. I teach special education for the emotionally impaired. The students in my class work very hard on making good behavioral choices. We also follow the curriculum for fourth grade. Please feel free to visit us in room 302.
SPECIALS
PROJECTS
Students in my room are working very hard to earn the TRUST BOARD. They can earn this privilege by having four weeks in a row of excellent behavior. Students who earn the Trust Board are given more responsibility and need less supervision.
Every day your child will bring home a behavior note letting you know how their day went. They can earn an excellent day, good day or needs to improve day. Celebrate the excellent and good days with your child. If they bring home a needs to improve note, please talk to child about what happened and how they can make better behavioral choices. I will also try to write on the note what happened.
READING
We are working on expanding our vocabulary. For every story we read we learn ten new vocabulary words. Ask your child to share some of their new words with you. When we start a new story your child will bring home a parent newsletter that lists the vocabulary words we are working on.
Every Monday your child will bring home a spelling list. Please help your child study these words every day.
Encourage your child to read every night. Reading with your child can help them read more fluently.
WRITING
Room 302 is becoming a classroom of authors. I love to read what your children are writing. We write every day. Right now we are focusing on writing essays. Students are learning how to push their thinking to make writing more interesting for the reader.
Soon we will be writing poetry.
MATH
We are learning about fractions and decimals. We are also reviewing what we have learned so far this year for an upcoming math assessment.
Students have a math journal that they will bring home at the end of the school year. This journal might help them next year so encourage your child not to throw it away.
SCIENCE We are studying earth science at this time. In the science lab we saw how the earth changes with moving wind, water and ice. Soon we will be learning about recycling.
SOCIAL STUDIES Student are working on a state report. Each child has chosen a state. They will be researching and preparing a report to share on May 27th, 2010 during our celebrating learning parent night. Come and see what your child has been working on.
