Nelson Elementary School
Students at Nelson Elementary School in grades K-5 are given physical education class once a week for 40 minutes. They come to gym either on Monday or Tuesday.

It has been proven that students who engage in physical activity perform better academically. It is our goal as physical education teachers to provide the best instruction towards maintaining a healthy living environment. Muskegon Public Schools has adopted the EPEC (Exemplary Physical Education Curriculum) for the elementary program. This curriculum is based upon the Michigan, as well as the National Standards for Physical Education. It consists of three modules - Locomotor Skills and Object-Control Skills, Knowledge, Activity, and Fitness; and Personal/Social Skills. Mapping is done to help explain concepts. These are on display in the gym for students to review.
Parents - Please remember to have your child wear a tennis shoe type shoe for their gym time.
